In addition to expanding the number of operating devices, the Expander can also be used to increase the cable length by 300m.
The DALI-2 Expander is connected to the DALI line (DALI IN terminals) and behaves like a DALI ballast with a DALI address.
The devices connected to the output of the DALI-2 Expander (DALI OUT terminals) form a subordinate DALI line. The DALI operating devices in the sub-line are controlled broadcast via the address of the DALI-2 Expander. With DES version, the devices in the DALI sub-line can alternatively be controlled via Switch&Dim. The DALI-2 Expander has an integrated DALI bus power supply (25mA or 200mA, depending on the device design) to supply the sub-line.
