The inside dimensions of the R1290 is 16.34" / 415mm.

Installation seems to require simply drilling 4 holes and anchoring the drawer from above. Will such a heavy drawer hold up with a laptop inside of it like this? Or are there other accessories necessary to help keep the drawer from falling?
Yes, laptop will hold up within the drawer . Hence this drawer supplied with fixing screws.
Are the holes flush mount for the screws that hold the connectors?
The mounting holes on the R2269/1UK-12 are countersunk
