Enhance your LED installations with Penn Elcom’s LED aluminium profiles - precision-manufactured mounting solutions that provide durability, heat dissipation and a polished aesthetic finish. Designed to house LED flex strips and modules, our aluminium profiles deliver professional-grade installations for architectural lighting, accent illumination, commercial displays and residential projects.
Available in a variety of shapes, sizes, lengths, colours and mounting options (including recessed, surface-mounted and corner profiles), each LED aluminium profile ensures clean integration, improved heat management and long-lasting performance. Explore our range to find the ideal profile solutions that elevate both functionality and style in your lighting designs.
An aluminium profile does far more than tidy up an installation. It houses and protects the LED tape from dust and knocks, draws heat away from the diodes to keep light output stable and extend their working life, and holds a diffuser that blends individual LEDs into an even line of light. Compared with tape fixed to a bare surface, a profile gives a cleaner, more professional finish and better long-term performance.
We supply profiles for a range of installation types: surface mount, recessed, corner, pendant (suspended), mini profiles for joinery and cabinetry, and floor profiles for step or ground-level applications. Covers are available in clear, diffused or milky white (also known as opal) finishes to suit the light output you need. Browse the full range above, or contact [email protected] for guidance on choosing the right profile for your application.
If you are unsure which suits your project, contact [email protected].
Our profiles are made from anodised aluminium. The extrusion provides structural strength and acts as a heat sink, while the anodised surface resists corrosion and marking in normal indoor use.
Choose a profile with an internal channel width at least equal to your tape width, allowing a little clearance for the tape and its adhesive backing. Use the LEDALMINI range for 4mm or 5mm Nano tapes, and the LEDAL range for most 8mm, 10mm and 12mm LED tapes.
The LEDAL42, LEDALMINI04 and LEDALMINI06 are our recommended profiles for joinery and furniture detailing. Contact [email protected] if you need help selecting the right profile for your specific detail.
Yes. The LEDAL36 range and the Inventronics LEDLFDMBENDM1 are designed to bend to shape for curved and circular runs such as cove lighting, columns and signage. Please consult the product descriptions for the minimum bending radius. Profiles are supplied in straight runs and bent to requirements on site. The LEDAL36 range takes LED tapes up to 12mm wide (we recommend COB type to avoid hot dots), while we recommend the LEDLFDMBENDM1 with 12mm wide Neon Flex.
We supply a wide range of diffuser covers for LED profiles, including the Inventronics range, in clear, frosted and opal finishes. Clear gives the highest output but the individual LEDs stay visible. Frosted softens the dots while keeping strong output. Opal gives the most even, dot-free line of light at the cost of some brightness. Contact us with your profile model and required length and the team can confirm which covers fit, along with availability and pricing.
Yes. COB (chip-on-board) tape works well in aluminium profiles and, paired with a diffused or opal cover, produces a continuous dot-free line of light. If you are unsure on compatibility, feel free to reach out to our LED team on [email protected].
Use a diffused or opal cover rather than clear, and match the tape to the profile depth. Opal covers give the most even, dot-free line, and a higher-density or COB tape helps hide individual diodes where the cover is shallow or clear. Contact [email protected] with your tape type and profile and the team can advise.
Yes. The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the LED tape. That keeps output stable and extends the life of the LEDs, which is why higher-output tape should run inside a profile rather than stuck to a bare surface.
Yes. Profiles can be cut to your required length on site using a hacksaw or mitre saw. The maximum length we can supply as a single piece is 3m. For longer continuous runs, profiles can be joined. Replacement end caps are available separately; contact [email protected] to confirm the correct end cap for your profile model before ordering. If you are looking for something bespoke, discover our custom LED capabilities here.
Yes, most profiles can be butted together to create a continuous run, and some ranges have dedicated in-line or corner joiners. Contact the LED team on [email protected] for advice on joiners and on keeping light output consistent across joins, particularly for longer or multi-corner installations.
Surface profiles fix with mounting clips or screws, recessed profiles sit into a routed channel or fix with mounting clips, and pendant profiles suspend on wire kits. Where drilling is not possible, double-sided adhesive tape can be a solution.
Yes. Recessed profiles sit flush into a routed channel in wood, MDF or plasterboard for a concealed finish. The LEDAL08M2, for example, can be recessed into wood, though it is not rated for outdoor or walk-on use. The LEDAL43, LEDAL44, LEDAL45, LEDAL47 and LEDAL49 are recommended for plasterboard ceilings and walls. You can find specific dimensions, information and fixing details on each product page.
IP rating varies across the range, so you can filter by Profile IP rating using the options above. Standard indoor profiles are not sealed against water: the anodised aluminium base is resilient, but the covers and clips are not rated for direct weather exposure, so they are not suitable for exposed external installations. For wet, humid or outdoor locations, contact [email protected] and the team will advise on an appropriate IP-rated solution.
Profiles can be powder-coated black or white by Penn Elcom in lengths up to 2m for UK customers. Contact [email protected] if you have a requirement outside these options.
This depends on the range. Many Penn Elcom profiles include end caps and clips, while Inventronics profiles are sold separately. Contact [email protected] to confirm what is included with your chosen profile.
Technical drawings for individual LED profiles are available on each product page under the Technical Information tab, where a 2D or 3D drawing link appears if available. If a drawing is not listed for a specific profile, contact [email protected].
